July 4th Picnic.  First Annual Prairie Hills July 4 Picnic on July 4th at Pilgrim Park (Access at McKenna, Frisch, Pilgrim, Homestead and Ravenswood), 4-6 p.m.  Fun for the kids: bike decorating and parade, games, races, arts and crafts. Hot dogs, brats and buns provided.  Bring a dish to share and portable grills if you have them.  There may be  S’mores.

FIFA World Cup Day at the Goodman Pool (325 Olin Ave). Celebrate the 2014 FIFA World Cup tournament that’s taking place in Brazil this summer! We will be coloring in flags of teams from around the world, decorating megaphones to cheer on our favorite players, and “traveling around the world” with soccer activities.

4th of July celebration at the Fitchburg Senior Center.  Brats or hamburgers and ice cream. Cost is $3.  Northern Comfort Band will play at 11:00.  Call 270-42-90 on or before 1:00 p.m. June 26 to reserve your space and order your meal.

Rhythm and Booms.  Join Madison Festivals on John Nolen Drive on June 28, 2014 for a day of entertainment, activities, great food, live music, and of course fireworks! The festival grounds on John Nolen Drive open at 2pm. The fireworks show will take place from 9:30pm to 10:00pm, and will be staged over Lake Monona for spectacular viewing from many sites around Madison. For viewing the fireworks on the festival grounds on John Nolen Drive, blankets and/or lawn chairs are encouraged.

June 29,  10:00-noon
Learn to Play Disc Golf at Elver Park.  Glide, a Madison area disc golf pro shop, is offering a series of FREE clinics for aspiring disc golfers of all ages.  These clinics are intended for all skill levels and will include a brief history of the game, basic overview of the rules, demonstration of equipment and throwing techniques, and an opportunity for individual and group instruction.
