Last Round of Brush Collection. The streets department indicates crews will be in the Wednesday refuse collection area – the final area – the week of October 5. No more brush will be collected after that.  http://www.cityofmadison.com/streets/yardWaste/brush/brushWest.cfm

Meadowood neighborhood focus.  On May 29, an overflow crowd of 700 packed the Alliant Energy Center to celebrate a new framework created by a coalition of leading African-Americans to attack racial disparities in Madison.  The latest news from coalition leaders is that they have decided to focus their initial efforts on the Meadowood neighborhood.  Read more in the Capital Times article, at:

Free (for those 55 and older) car winterization and safety check at the West Towne Firestone garage, sponsored by the Madison Police Department, SW-TRIAD, which includes the Madison “SAIL” program and others.  (Triad is a national program that promotes safety and crime prevention for seniors.  SAIL stands for Supporting Active Independent Lives).
